The Chevy Volt Takes On Zombies

The Chevy Volt is well known for its incredible mileage, but what about its durability against zombies? Take a look at the latest ad from the Volt team. Which car would you prefer to drive?

Face it, some people today would worry about electric cars in the event of a terrorist attack, or calamity, or emergency – or some reason for needing to hightail it out of town.
Beyond that, GM has always emphasized the Volt solves a perceived everyday problem of limited electric range by offering gasoline backup serviceable at normally available gas stations.
That said, GM’s ad playing off of subconscious fears baked in from Hollywood-style post-apocalyptic scenarios features a gasoline car running out of gas while zombies chase two guys running from the mutants left from the catastrophe.
Portrayed this way, GM bypassed its opportunity to implicitly diss the likes of the Nissan Leaf, or Mitsubishi i, Ford Focus Electric, or any other electric car that can go 70-100-some miles before running out of juice without a plug in sight.

The 2014 Chevrolet SS, A New Contender

Chevrolet will be us debuting a new rear-wheel drive performance sedan in the near future! The new car named the Chevrolet SS, and it will boast a powerful V8 engine. The car should be available in showrooms in late 2013 or early 2014, so get ready!
The SS will also be used as Chevrolet’s NASCAR stock car for the 2013 season. The photograph you see here is a camouflage version of that stock car in testing. The first view of the racecar will be at the NASCAR Sprint Cup 2013 Daytona 500. Chevrolet isn’t offering details on the coming SS.
The carmaker has announced that the SS will arrive in dealer showrooms in late 2013 as a 2014 model. This is the first time in 17 years that Chevrolet has offered a rear-wheel drive sedan for sale in the United States. In case you’re wondering, a sedan has four doors while a coupe, such as the Camaro, has two doors.

2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco Earns Top Safety Ratings

The new 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco has been awarded the best safety ratings from the Insurance Institue for Highway Safety for its overwhelming resilience and passenger safety features. If you are looking for a safe car for the family, look no further!
The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco, and the 2012 Hyundai Azera—both recently redesigned family-size sedans—have earned top crash-test ratings across the board from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Also taking into consideration their standard safety equipment, they've been named among the list of IIHS Top Safety Picks.
The new Malibu Eco almost swept the board, with top ratings in all of the IIHS's subcategories; the sole exception was an 'acceptable' score for driver torso injury. In the relatively new roof strength test—a measure that correlates to the likelihood of injury in a rollover accident—the Malibu Eco was able to withstand 5.22 times its body weight in a particular test area of the roof.

The Incredibly Fast 2013 Camaro ZL1

We knew the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was fast, but after some recent tests we were shown just how much speed it has. The new Camaro finished a quarter mile drag strip in under 12 seconds, going 117 miles per hour. We wouldn't recommend those speeds for your commute, but it's nice to know its there!

We've taken the bone-stock 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 down the quarter-mile drag strip at Bondurant in Arizona several times. The very first pass we made netted us a time slip in the mid-12-second range. That's an impressive performance for a car wearing road-legal radial tires with zero preparation and a driver familiarizing himself with the car.
We instantly knew this car was capable of more, and wondered how long it would take before we saw our first elapsed time in the 11s. Turns out the wait is over.
General Motors itself is the perpetrator of the blazing-fast quarter mile. Chevrolet engineers took two completely stock ZL1 coupes to Milan Dragway in Michigan – one automatic and one manual – and recorded a best pass of 11.93 seconds at 116 miles per hour. That was with the automatic; the row-your-own model managed 11.96 at 117 mph.
Those looking to drag their new Camaro ZL1 ought to be pleased with this news. But even if your race track aspirations lean more toward a curvy strip of asphalt, the baddest production Camaro ever made has you covered. Consider its Nürburgring lap time of seven minutes and 41 seconds as proof of its prowess.

Chevy's EN-V Concept

Chevrolet has designed and produced a new line of smarter than smart cars ideal for crowded city streets. This futuristic concept is perfect for people with short commutes who want to save money on gas. Although it won't help you during a move, it will definitely be the perfect get-around car. The two-seater EN-V will have a few trial runs in China before seeing a wider market globally, but will hopefully come to the states soon.

General Motors has given the world a preview of its vision for the future of city transportation with the unveiling of the Chevrolet EN-V 2.0 concept at the 2012 Beijing motor show.
The concept is an evolution of the first-generation EN-V concept (pronounced ‘envy’, for ‘Electric Networked Vehicle’) that debuted at World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
The second-gen concept retains its upright pod motorcycle-helmet styling but adds two extra wheels (now four in total) for improved stability and performance.
Unlike the initial concept, the two-seat EN-V 2.0 includes climate control and a luggage compartment, and its engineers say it is now capable of driving in any weather and across all city roads.
