Owners impressed by Chevy Volt fuel economy.

Just how efficient is the Volt in real world driving? Well, if you ask Lyle Dennis, the owner of GM-Volt.com, he’ll have some impressive statistics for you. Since receiving a Volt for testing on November 11th, he’s racked up 5,100 miles while burning just 46 gallons of gas.
While Dennis’ 60 mile daily commute is beyond the Volt’s normal electric range of around 40 miles, he discovered that it’s still an extremely fuel-efficient vehicle. Although his commute requires the use of the Volt’s gasoline engine, he’s still averaging an impressive 111 miles per gallon. By comparison, the Toyota Prius hybrid averages 51 mpg city and 48 mpg highway.
On his popular website, Dennis detailed his time in the Volt and shared his prediction:
I fully expect in the years ahead the Volt to become a highly popular car and finally the roads of this country will growingly be populated with cars that can drive without gas.  The dream is now a reality.  We are starting to wean off of oil.
